Data entry work from home jobs seem to always be in high demand.
Since online data entry is often flexible, entry-level work that requires little experience to get started, it is a popular option for people who are are new to home-based work or only want to work from home part-time.
What Is Data Entry?
Data entry is entering data – which can be alphabetic, numeric, or a combination – from one format into another.
The data may be provided in any medium, from physical documents or from a computer program.
As a data entry keyer, your job is to key or enter the data from the provided format into a computer system like a spreadsheet, a word processing document, a computer program or application, etc.
At a basic level, data entry work is simply typing!
What Do I Need To Do Online Data Entry Work?
Data entry work from home requires that you are a quick and accurate typist.
You will also need basic computer skills, the ability to pay close attention to detail, and high-speed internet.
Make sure you understand how you’ll be paid since data entry work may pay by the hour, keystroke, word, or at a per piece rate.
Data Entry or Transcription?
Don’t get these confused!
Though both involve typing, transcription is listening to audio files and typing the spoken word into text.
If you’re interested, there are great opportunities to work at home. There is beginner-level transcription work as well as home-based business opportunities in transcription.

Business-to-business payment and information services provider. Cass offers a work from home Invoice Payment Specialist position in Missouri and Ohio. Candidates must live in or near Bridgeton, MO or Columbus, OH for in-office training for several weeks.
DionData Solutions
Contracts with keyers on a part-time basis. Training provided.
Driver Guide
Provides a searchable database of device drivers, firmware, and support documents. Periodically hires data entry contractors to assist with database updates.
Great American Opportunities
This seasonal data entry opportunity with the well-known fundraising company is highly recommended and very difficult to get. Per my research, there is at least a two-year waiting list for the position! But the general feedback is that workfromhomers enjoy working with GAO when they get the opportunity.
